Our capabilities to output digital data include:

Crosfield 750® Filmsetter
DuPont Waterproof® Digital Proofer
Screen TCP® Digital Proofer
Screen PlateRite® Digital Plater

  We can provide DuPont or Kodak proofs or press plates from your properly developed electronic files or films, eliminating the need for a service bureau.
  All of our Mac-generated art files are generally proofed with Kodak Approval® material which will substantially match the press production sheets. Proofs can be produced in either press imposition or "reader's spreads". These are "final" proofs prior to printing. Scatter proofs for color OK are usually done on Kodak Approval® material. Some clients still provide us with composite films for platemaking. This is not a problem and we will strip these films traditionally and proof them analog using DuPont Waterproof® material from your composite films.

Direct-to-Plate
  At Spectra Print we use an integrated system for processing your digitally prepared Macintosh and PC files. Our Dainippon Screen "Taiga" system is configured to insure digital integrity between digital proofs and plates.
  After your files are thoroughly pre-flighted the pages are sent to the Taiga system, where the page data is ripped at the beginning of the process rather than each time it is sent to an imagesetter. Your page data is ripped, converted to POM (Page Object Modules) data, trapped and imposed on the fly. The POM file information gives us fully editable pages right up to the time of exposing proofs or plates.
  Our Kodak Approval® proofs and our digital plates are both exposed at 4000 dpi to give the sharpest image possible. In conjunction with the high resolution of these imagesetters the dot structure is exactly the same between them, so not only do you get an accurate digital proof with a dot, you can be assured it is the same dot that is going to end up on the printing plate.

Traditional Pre-Press
Stripping/Platemaking
  A portion of our pre-press work is still traditional stripping and analog plate-making. We continue to provide films to the film assemblers for stripping in the traditional fashion and proofs and plates as well. If you are still working with the traditional litho films and plates, we are very comfortable with your "supplied" films or we will generate our own for you.
